Hovering
Cockpit View
This hover is about 350' AGL (above ground level). Note the instrument
readings. O airspeed, Torque at 55%,VS at O and nose slightly up. Noting by
the instruments I am starting to drop slightly. Need to increase throttle to
maintain this hover. Normally hovering is done only a few feet from the deck and
is done at take off and just before touch down. Pratice high so you can allow
for recovery time. Pratice from here reverse, left and right cyclic inputs.
The best advise is to watch the horizon and objects outside of the helicopter
to best know what control inputs you need to apply inside. Small constant adjustments
rather than "Oh My Gosh" adjustments.
